Marine centre celebrates World Oceans Day

Wembury Marine Centre, near Plymouth, will be celebrating World Oceans Day this week with a rockpool ramble on Saturday 7 June.

Wembury beach is one of the best places to go rockpooling in the UK.

The ramble will start at 2.30pm from the Centre. The event costs £1 for adult, 50p for children and £2.50 per family. The event is open to anyone but children must be accompanied by an adult.

World Oceans Day started in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is a chance for the world to celebrate all things related to the sea. World Oceans Day is always on June 8 and it is often celebrated on the weekend closest to that date. This year's theme is 'Helping our climate/helping our ocean'.
